U-16 and U-18 teams split games with Richmond United; U-14s beat LVU

The U-16s won 3-0 and the U-18s dropped three points against Richmond United while the U-14 team beat Lehigh Valley United 1-0 in their game at YSC Sports.

Colin Brezniak scored the winner in the 12th minute and the defense held Richmond United scoreless in a 3-0 win in Richmond on Saturday.

Justin McMaster (30th minute) and Dawson McCartney (46th minute) also scored in the team's last Development Academy game before traveling to Dallas for the Generation Adidas Cup finals.

Goalkeeper Justin Bajek and the back line of Andrew Aprahamian, Isaiah Holquist, Mark McKenzie and Patrick Murphy kept the clean sheet. Kurtis Orrson, Alexander Soto and Raheem Taylor-Parkes also started in the game and Robert Campbell, Evan Godfrey, Juan Pablo Infante, Jerren Nixon and Max Silberg were used as substitutes.

The win gives the U-16s 42 points through 16 games this season, one more than East Conference Atlantic Division leaders New York Red Bulls, which has 41 points and a game in hand.

Their next league game is April 12 at DC United.


Keenan O'Shea scored in the 74th minute and the U-18 offense was held scoreless in a 1-0 loss to Richmond United.

Derrick Amaniampong, Shane Bradley, Will Campbell, Sebastian Elney, Frederick Gil, Morgan Hackworth, Cameron Keys, John Schroeder, Michael Swift, Sean Wilson and Zach Zandi started for the Union. Ryan Raheem Miller, Johann Weatherly, Kevin Carvalho and Conor Bradley came off the substitute's bench.

The loss dropped the Union down to fourth place in the East Conference Atlantic Division standings, three points behind Players Development Academy with a game in hand and sixth place in the wildcard pool.

The U-18s play second place DC United away on April 12.


Second half substitute Nicholas Blacklock scored a 79th minute winner for the U-14 team in a 1-0 win at home over Lehigh Valley United on Saturday.

Brenden Aronson, Iverson Brisma, Christian Contreras, Carlos dos Santos, Carter Emack, Kevin Escobar, Seth Kuhn, Chad Letts, Nicholas Lliddy, Rayshaun McGann and Nkykolas Sessock started in the game. Tanner Dail, Michael Pellegrino, Andrew Taber and Cole Turner also came on as substitutes.

Up next for the U-14s is DC United away on April 12.
