The Philadelphia Union officially announced that defender Austin Berry was loaned to FC Anyang, which plays in South Korea's second division K League Challenge. In a very brief press release, the Union said that the loan was "for the 2015 season" and that "per club and league policy, additional terms of the deal were not disclosed."
Berry has been in the press for all the wrong reasons lately. Rankled by not getting playing time, Berry lashed out at Union manager Jim Curtin and technical director Chris Albright in a recent article for lack of playing time, and we surmised it wouldn't be long until he was shipped out.
Albright's terse response in the press conference probably says it all:
"We feel that this is the perfect level for Austin to continue his development," technical director Chris Albright said. "We wish him the best and look forward to him representing the club well." Philadelphia Union press release
