The Union made quite a splash when they dropped their Daily Doop on Wednesday evening. The post recapped a few intrasquad scrimmages from earlier today, mentioning four previously unannounced trialists in the process.
Petros Kanakoudis, 30, is a journeyman Greek left back who seems to have covered more ground than Alexander. His longest stint came with Asteras, where he made nearly 70 appearances. Since leaving the Peloponnesian club in 2009, Kanakoudis has popped up for seven other teams, ranging from the Greek second division to the Super League. Interestingly enough, Kanakoudis, who used to play on a peninsula branching out from a peninsula, is now trialing on a peninsula connected to another peninsula (I realize that no one will find this interesting). Kanakoudis is currently on the roster of AOK Kerkya, who play in the Greek Super League.
Navid Nasseri, who signed with Birmingham City last summer, also featured in the Union's scrimmages. The Iranian U-21 national is described as an attacking midfielder, but he apparently played right back for the Union in Clearwater on Wednesday.
Eric Ayuk Mbu, a Cameroonian winger, is also with the team in Florida. Union Rumors discovered him over the weekend. Mbu supposedly played at Surin United FC at some point. There's also an Eric Ayuk Mbu Facebook account that says that the player once suited up for Buriram United, a big club in Thailand. This is likely a real player, unless he is not, and his name is an anagram.
Aodhan Quinn, who the Union drafted in the latter rounds of the 2014 MLS SuperDraft, is on trial with the club in Clearwater. Quinn played for Orlando City SC last year after the Union opted not to sign him.
Hermes Palomino and Coady Andrews, who were featured on the team's pre-season roster, did not play in today's scrimmages. Matt De George is reporting that they are no longer with the Union.
