Philadelphia Fury to hold tryout for upcoming season

Think you've got what it takes?

Any soccer player who's ever had a dream to play professionally will soon have their chance. The Philadelphia Fury and AC Crusaders of the American Soccer League for the second year in a row will be having tryout on February 28-March 1 so aspiring players will have their chance to show off for the Fury coaches and try to gain a spot on the roster for the upcoming season.

"Having an open tryout last year at the outset of the ASL season, we found some excellent players that helped out the Fury and AC Crusaders this past fall," said General Manager Victor Malagisi. "We are looking for good things to come out of this year's combine/tryout."

The tryout format will be the same as last year. The first session will be a combine format as players will be doing drills and teamwork exercises to show their skills to Fury staff. After a lunch break the players will have a friendly against the Fury first team who will be having their first practice coming off the offseason.

Since announcing that the team will be having a combine, Malagisi has said that team has had good response from interested players looking to tryout. "Much of the staff and coaches have been getting numerous calls about players wanting to come in and tryout," he said. "Many of them have heard of the reputation of the teams and want to be a part of the culture that has been created by the local teams and the ASL as a whole."

Malagisi also said the reputation that both the Fury and Crusaders have is well known in the region should attract even better talent to this years combine/tryout.

The tryout will be at the main practice ground of the Fury at Total Turf Experience In Pitman, NJ. It will cost attendees $90 to tryout and will start at 9:00 am. All players interested can direct message the Fury at @PhillyASL  on twitter or call 518-774-5913 and the Crusaders on twitter at @CrusadersASL for more information.
