Per a press release from Major League Soccer, the Philadelphia Union have declined to renew contract options on seven players today, including Conor Casey, Danny Cruz, and Brian Carroll. Cruz, along with Warren Creavalle, Fred, and Zac MacMath, will be available for selection in Friday's Re-Entry Draft. Players selected in the first round of the Re-Entry Draft must be paid at their current salary. Players selected in the second round of the Re-Entry Draft next Thursday will need to negotiate their salaries with the club that selects them. Anyone passed over in both drafts can negotiate with any team.
Antoine Hoppenot is out of contract, and will also be available to be selected in the Re-Entry Draft,
Conor Casey and Brian Carroll had their options declined by the Union as well, however the Union have reportedly offered Carroll a bona fide offer. He and Casey however meet the league's newly instituted free agent requirements of being at least 28 years old with eight years of service, so they'll be among Major League Soccer's first crop of free agents who can negotiate with any team.
