The Sons of Ben have announced that current Vice-President Ami Rivera will be the group's next President, effective January 1. Rivera has served as the organization's Vice-President since 2014, and will take over for the departing President Kenny Hanson, who is leaving after two years as the President of the Philadelphia Union's largest Supporter's Group. Rivera will be the group's fourth President, and will be the first woman president of a recognized Supporter's Group in Major League Soccer (Seattle Sounders' SG North End Faithful have a husband and wife serving as co-presidents).
Replacing Rivera as Vice-President will be Jeffrey Mitchell, current Director of Social Media for the organization. Mitchell has been the guy behind the Sons of Ben Facebook account since 2011 and the Twitter account since 2013, and said "Ami and I really want to end the 'us versus them' in the River End, and channel all hatred and negativity towards everyone else in MLS."
We at the Brotherly Game congratulate both Ami and Jeff on their promotions and look forward to see the direction the Sons of Ben take as an organization.
