A Brian Saramago goal in the second minute of the game was all the New York Red Bulls needed to knock off the Philadelphia Union Academy U18 last Saturday, in a battle of two of the top teams in the Atlantic Division of the U.S. Development Academy.
Derrick Jones Amaniampong, Robert Campbell, Lamine Conte, Joseph DeZart, Freeman Dwamena, Tiger Graham, Emmanuel Perez, Matthew Real, Yosef Samuel, Michael Swift and Andrew Verdi started the match. Frederick Gil, Alexander Soto, Raheem Taylor-Parkes and Abu Winter came off the bench.
With the loss, the U18 team dropped to third in the division standings with a 7-2-2 record behind Players Development Academy (9-1-3) and the Red Bulls (8-1-1).
U16s
Benjamin Ofeimu put the U16 team in the lead with his first goal of the season in the 5th minute, but the defense was unable to hold off the first place New York Red Bulls the rest of the way and settled for a 1-1 draw.
Benjamin Mines scored the equalizer for the Red Bulls in the 68th minute.
Andrew Aprahamian, Kalil ElMedkhar, Anthony Fontana, Brandon Golden, Justin McMaster, Byron Josue Monge, Patrick Murphy, Benjamin Ofeimu, Kurtis Orrson and Issa Rayyan started the match. Brendan Aaronson, Omar Ayala, Daniel Bloyou and Isaiah Holquist saw minutes off the bench.
With the draw, the U16s at 6-2-3 are still even on points with the Red Bulls (6-1-3) for first place in the Atlantic Divisionm but have played one more game.
U14s, etc.
The U14 team had a week off from Development Academy play but did win 1-0 in a game against Empire United, according to the Union Academy Twitter account.
The U13 beat the Red Bulls 2-1, the U15 team beat Beachside United 5-1 and the U12s won a weekend APL Soccer tournament on penalties Sunday after posting 6-0 and 5-0 wins on Saturday.

The U18 and U16 teams play their last Development Academy matches at home for the year with games at 11 a.m. (U18) and 1 p.m. (U16) against Continental FC DELCO on Saturday. The U14 team hosts Continental FC DELCO at 3 p.m., which is their last DA game at home until December 31.
