Union Academy teams go 2-1 in games with NJCSA and World Class FC

Michael Swift had a hat trick to lead the U-18s to a win over NJCSA, but the U-16s lost their first of the season and the U-14s had to settle for a scoreless draw with World Class FC.

Michael Swift netted a hat trick to lead the Union Academy U-18 team to a 3-0 win over NJCSA last Sunday.

The Clemson commit opened the scoring for the Union in the 3rd minute and added goals in the 68th and 70th minute. He's now tied for first on the team in scoring with Yosef Samuel and Tiger Graham.

Andrew Verdi recorded the clean sheet in goal. Other starters included Robert Campbell, Joseph DeZart, Freeman Dwamena and Mark McKenzie on the back line, Frederick Gil, Emmanuel Perez, Yosef Samuel and Dawson McCartney in the midfield and Tiger Graham partnering with Swift up top.

With the win, the U-18s improve to 4-1-1 and are tied on 13 points with DC United and New York Red Bulls at the top of the Atlantic Division standings.

U-16s

Denir Radoncic scored a goal in the 53rd minute to lead NJCSA to a 1-0 win over the U-16 team on Sunday.

The loss was the first of the season for the U-16 team, which fell to 4-1-1 on the season and is one point behind New York Red Bulls (4-0-2) in the Atlantic Division standings.

The starting XI for the match was Andrew Aprahamian, Omar Ayala, Anthony Fontana, Evan Godfrey, Michael Kalpokas, Darius Lewis, Rayshaun McGann, Justin McMaster, Byron Josue Monge, Patrick Murphy, Christian Schifano and Carlos dos Santos.

U-14s

The U-14 team's trip to Orangeburg, New York on Saturday ended in a 9-0 blowout of World Class FC. Jason Aoyama and Nicholas Blacklock each had hat tricks and Michael McKeown, Michael Pellegrino and Cole Turner added goals.

The Union have the weekend off from U.S. Development Academy play before returning home to host Bethesda-Olney at the Training Grounds by PPL Park in Chester on Saturday, October 17. The U-18s will play at 11 a.m., the U-16s at 1 p.m. and U-14s at 3 p.m.
