While Earnie Stewart may have some tough decisions ahead of him as new director of soccer for the Philadelphia Union, the goalkeeper position shouldn't be one of them. Andre Blake is back in the MLS Team of the Week for the second time in 2015 after playing a great game against Orlando City in an otherwise meaningless match on Decision Day.
While Blake's nomination this time around was a bit less automatic, a clean sheet is a clean sheet and a vital save against Pedro Ribeiro was enough to give him the award. Blake's other Team of the Week appearance was Week 30 (or the week of September 28th if you would rather) after an absolutely insane performance away in Gillette Stadium against a New England Revolution team that did everything but get the ball past him.
Blake's statline courtesy of mlssoccer.com: 90 minutes, 5 saves, 1 punch, 2 crosses caught and 1 foul suffered.
Again, not a whole lot of positives to come out of the Union season this year, but the emergence of Andre Blake as a consistently good goalkeeper (for the Union no less) is a big one.
