OFFICIAL: 2015 Philadelphia Union schedule released

David Manning-USA TODAY Sports

MLS released the 2015 schedule today, and while we knew what the first two matches were for some time now (Colorado Rapids on March 7 at 4:00 PM is burned into our brains), the Philadelphia Union fans can start planning for the rest of the season.

Obviously for Union fans, trips to D.C. United on May 30 and July 6, New York Red Bulls on May 24 and October 18, and New York City FC on April 16 are the big ones. Other big away trips are Toronto FC on July 18 and October 3, New England Revolution on September 26, and Orlando City SC on August 8.

The first thing that stands out in this schedule is the home/road series for the Union against NYCFC in the middle of April. Before traveling to Yankee Stadium on the 16th, Jim Curtin's side will welcome Jason Kreis' team led by Spanish international David Villa (and not that Frank Lampard guy) to PPL Park for the first ever matchup between the two.

Three days after the road contest versus NYC, the Union return home to take on the Revolution, who made it all the way to the MLS Cup this past season but lost to the LA Galaxy.

June could be a crucial month for the Union, with four of their five games being at home against Columbus, NYCFC, Seattle, and Montreal. The other will be in LA against the Galaxy on June 20. Sorry Union fans, Steven Gerrard won't be coming to PPL Park this year.

The matchup in August against Orlando will be the first time the two sides have met, and will meet again on October 25 in Pennsylvania for the last game of the regular season.
