Confirmed: US Open Cup Final will be on September 16

Our counterparts at Sounder At Heart - SBN's Seattle Sounders blog - received confirmation yesterday that the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup Final will be played at PPL Park on September 16th, putting to bed rumors that the match would be moved to the 17th. It's unclear where the rumors started, however they gained traction yesterday when it was picked up on social media and spread like wildfire.

The date was further confirmed by me a few minutes ago when I called the Philadelphia Union's own toll-free ticketing line and confirmed with the ticketing agent that the match would indeed be on the 16th of September - and was able to purchase tickets over the phone. As of the writing of this article, the Union has not sent out an official email to season ticket holders for them to buy tickets to the Union's first-ever title match, however I would expect that to be sent out sometime today.
