Poetry Corner Kicks: Union 0 - Impact 1

Poetry Corner Kicks: the silver lining isn't so silvery.

It's been a few weeks, but this still looks weird.

The season started so promising.  The Philadelphia Union midfield was strong, they were finally getting shots on goal, and aside from some individual blunders (which, in theory, could be corrected), they were looking pretty good.  My how things have changed.  There are still occasional bright spots, but when you get 17 shots off(!), only get five on target, and finish none of them against a bad Montreal Impact team, you begin to wonder what you have to do to get a goal.  When the bright spot is that you only lost by one, you know you’re approaching rock bottom.

The game was played out in the rain
Union fans were feeling pain
Of ties and losses by the ton
At least they only lost by one

Montreal got on the board
At the minute ten plus four
Felipe shot it on the run
At least they only lost by one

Wenger’s shot, a little poke
Was saved by that there Perkins bloke
The build up here was kinda fun
At least they only lost by one

The Union put some pressure on
But a goal could not be won
Their offense hiding, like the sun
At least they only lost by one

Noggy had a chance to score
His shot went high, his aim was poor
Could the Union get it done?
At least they only lost by one

Jack would go and prove a nettle
He tried a shot to prove his mettle
But Jack by Zac was here outdone
At least they only lost by one

The rest would play the same ol’ story:
Philly never finding glory
Has Hackworth’s countdown now begun?
At least they only lost by one
