Ten Union Academy players inked national letters of intent on Wednesday to play college soccer, including seven signing with Division 1 schools and three officially committing to play soccer in the powerful Atlantic Coast Conference.
Patrick Berneski signed a letter of intent to play with the defending national champions Notre Dame, which won their first national title at PPL Park back in December.
Berneski will join Academy teammates Tyler Skwara, who signed with Boston College, and Duke signee Noah Snyder in the ACC. The ACC already has academy alums Darius Madison at Virginia, and Colton Storm at North Carolina (Goalkeeper Zack Steffen's Maryland Terrapins are moving to the Big 10).
Bradford Jones and Ryan Talbot both signed with South Florida in the American Athletic Conference (home to Academy alums Jared Martinelli at Temple and Quincy Thomas at Memphis) while Matthew Greer officially committed to play in the Ivy League at Dartmouth.
Doyle Tuvesson (Lehigh) and Joe Harding (Fairfield) round out the Division 1 signees (so far) who put ink to paper on the first day of the signing period.
Forward Brett Glasco will stay close to home and play with Division II West Chester in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference and Eric Gutierrez will play for Philadelphia University in the Division II Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference.
Expect more announcements in the coming weeks as the Academy class of 2014 sign letters of intent.
