Myrie plays for Los Ticos, as Porfirio cheers him on from the bench.

Porfirio Lopez was not a factor in Alajuelense's 3-0 win over Puntarenas on Sunday, as he was taking his talents to the world stage. OK, Porfirio watched from the bench, but David Myrie got to play. Myrie played 31 minutes in his country's 1-0 loss to South Korea. Both Myrie and Lopez will rush back to Costa Rica to prepare for the Alajuelense vs. Herediano match on Wednesday. That'll be an awkward plane ride.

Faryd Mondragon was in goal for Deportivo Cali's Super Cup win over Atletico Nacional on Wednesday, but did not participate in his club's season opener on Sunday, which they lost. Cali will enter the second leg of the Super Cup on Wednesday with a 2-1 advantage in hand.

Michael Orozco started on Sunday, and remained on the field to watch his club collapse. Luis Robles's own goal put Puebla up 2-0 at the 41st minute. Chiapas went on to score three unanswered goals, the last one coming in stoppage time. Puebla is still winless through four Liga MX matches.

Cruz Azul has been kicking ass and taking names, but Michael Farfan hasn't partaken in the fun. He has yet to crack the gameday roster for the table-toppers.

Josue Martinez went 46 minutes in Saprissa's 1-1 draw with Limon.

La Equidad tied Alianza Petrolera 1-1 on Friday. Maybe if they had played Lionard Pajoy, they could've taken all three points. I'm sure that Lio has already brought that to his coach's attention, though.

After winning all four of their preseason friendlies, Hoffenheim got smacked by Nürnberg. Kai Herdling did not feature in the 4-0 loss, but the fracture of Fabian Johnson's hand might allow Herdling to get more minutes.

It seems like only Mother Nature is capable of stopping Joe Tait these days, as Darlington's match set for Saturday was postponed due to weather.
