Former Union midfielder and fan favorite Roger Torres has suffered a knee injury while on trial with Club Atlético Nacional in Colombia.
Torres will have to undergo surgery to recover from the injury, which will be a major setback for the young Colombian.
Torres left the Union this past offseason after receiving only very limited in 2013. Last season Torres logged only 68 minutes over five games with the Union, with one shot. He played 10 games, only starting one of them, in 2012 with two assists. There has been a longstanding debate amongst Union fans as to whether Torres deserved to see more time on the field, and clearly the coaching staff sided with those who didn't think he should.
Obviously we wish Roger Torres the best in his career after the Union, and hope that he can have a speedy recovery from his injury. Hopefully this promising young player can join another team after recovering.
