6 Reasons to Enjoy the Week Off

Sad there is no Union action this weekend? We have 6 reasons to enjoy the Union-less weekend.

Dale Zanine-US PRESSWIRE

The Union take a week off courtesy of the CONCACAF Champions League group stage matches. This is the perfect opportunity for John Hackworth and company to seriously work on their game.

What can you do to fill those endless hours that you would have spent obsessing over, preparing for, traveling to and watching the Philadelphia Union? We have you covered. Here are some suggestions of what you could be doing to fill the Casey sized void this weekend.

6. SCARECROW FESTIVAL

The perfect way to feel in touch with the 2013 Union is to go check out Peddler's Village Scarecrow Festival. You will be able to marvel at ultimately ineffectual straw men backed by poles to your hearts content.

5. CIRQUE DREAMS

Can't get enough of Francophones flying  tantalizing close to dangerous situations just to miss them by a fraction? Head to the REVEL in Atlantic City and tell them Sebastien sent you.

4. OCTOBERFEST

I checked the calendar as well, but the Germans must be so sterotypically efficient that October is apparently starting early this year. There are many bars and restaurants beginning the festivities this week. So if you don't mind a headache bigger than Kai Herdling while trying to piece together exactly what happened the previous night, it should not be hard to find.

3. TERROR BEHIND THE WALLS

It would feel dirty to look for some cheap Union connection for this now Philadelphia institution. For this writer, visiting Eastern State Penitentiary every fall is as certain as a Antionne Hoppenot substitution.

2. OKUGOFEST

You are correct, there is no such thing as OKUGOFEST, but you know as well as I do that there damn well should be. We should be celebrating the man as often as possible while he is still here. After Amobi Okugo was named #8 in MLS's 24 under 24, there is very good reason to celebrate.

1. NO PRESS CONFERENCES

Like an entire school district playing hooky at once, Union fans have a reprieve of the stress of deciphering a John Hackworth weekly press conference that makes word problems look appealing.

So never fear Unionverse, there are plenty of things that you can do to fill up your Union time this week. Enjoy
