Keon Daniel Suspended For Tonight's Game Due To 'Violent Conduct' Against Whitecaps

The Union midfielder kicked out at an opponent last week, earning only a yellow card in game.

Despite adding a midfielder but a day ago, the Philadelphia Union will be down one for tonight's home game against the Chicago Fire.

Keon Daniel, who only recently returned from international duty with Trinidad and Tobago during the CONCACAF Gold Cup, was handed a one game ban by Major League Soccer's Disciplinary Committee. He was also fined an undisclosed amount by the Disciplinary Committee.

Daniel kicked out at Marques Davidson early into the Union's 1-0 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps, which ended with the Philadelphia player being handed a yellow, but also saw Davidson ejected from the game.

Davidson reacted poorly to Daniel's 'violent conduct' with a headbutt from behind, which led to the Whitecaps player heading to the locker room.

The Union will most likely choose from Leo Fernandes or Kleberson to fill Daniel's roll in his absence, or they may possibly reach to the end of the bench and toss seldom used Roger Torres into play.
