How does the old saying go? Something like, "a point on the road is still a good thing"? Actually, that’s probably not a saying, because it’s not catchy and sounds lame. But despite its lameness, it is still true. The Union gained a point on the road against a pretty good Crew team, so that’s not nothing. It is good to see 15 shots coming from Union heads and feet, but it is a bit frustrating to only come out with one goal to show for the effort. Overall, this was a more entertaining game to watch than the Red Bulls game last week. But entertaining won’t get you to the playoffs. We’ll see if the Union can get their finishing in gear. On to the Poetry Corner Kicks recap ...
On the road in C-bus
The Union came to play their game
But for all the fuss
Just a single point was claimed
The shots were flying fast
But many tries would miss their mark
Chances were amassed
But taken like the park was dark
Then Jack would break the tie
His shot in minute thirty-four
Would not be denied
He caught the pass from Cruz and scored
Casey had a look
And tried to build the lead to two
Once his shot was took
It shanked and bid the chance adieu
Oduro, Casey, Speas
Okugo, ‘Toux, and Hoppenot
Despite their expertise
Just could not make their chances go
In the second half
In minute seventy plus two
Dom would beat MacMath
And bring some good news to the Crew
Giving up late goals
Seems to be the Union’s mode
But taken on the whole
They’ll take the one point on the road
