Josue Martinez scored his second goal in as many games as Deportivo Saprissa tied fourth place Cartagines. Saprissa will travel to San Isidro de El General next week to take on Perez Zeledon.

Porfirio Lopez watched Alajuelense win their fifth game in a row, as he served a yellow card suspension. Thanks to Herediano's draw over the weekend, LDA are now two points out of first.

Faryd Mondragon made his return for Deportivo Cali this weekend. Cali finished fourth in the first stage of the Clausura, and have made a storming entry into the playoffs. In Colombia, the top eight teams are separated into two groups of four. Each team plays every other team in their group twice, with the winner of each group advancing to the finals. Three games through, Cali is still perfect, as they sit six points clear of their nearest competitor. Mondragon watched his teammates score two late goals to take all three points from their encounter with Once Caldas. The two teams will meet once again on Wednesday.

Kai Herdling played 31 minutes in a 2-0 Hoffenheim defeat. The loss to Augsburg marks their third in a row, and they now sit only two points above the relegation playoff. Their match against similarly struggling Werder Bremen next week could prove to be the difference between staying up or going down at the end of the season.

Joe Tait went unused as Gateshead defeated 22nd place Dartford on Saturday.

In an interview on Chivas's site, Gabriel Farfan talked about returning to California and his expectations for the 2014 season.
