Paid Their Dues: Orozco Brought Into Camp

Michael Orozco has been called up by USMNT Head Coach Jurgen Klinsmann, Perk and Hoffman exit the playoffs, and Martinez's injury isn't as bad as was feared.

After winning the home leg 1-0, the LA Galaxy were knocked out of the playoffs as a result of their midweek 2-0 loss to Real Salt Lake. Brian Perk and Chandler Hoffman were the only remaining Union alumni in contention for MLS Cup, but now no former Union players will lift the trophy. Neither Perk nor Hoffman made a league appearance this season, and, at their salaries ($58k and $98k, respectively), it'd be difficult to see them in a Galaxy kit next year.

Michael Orozco has been included in Klinsmann's 23-man roster that is set to take on Scotland and Vienna in the next week. In domestic play, Orozco's Puebla was beaten 1-0 in Morelia. Puebla has missed out on the Liga MX playoffs, and will now start preparing for the Clausura.

Porfirio Lopez and Alajuelense got back to their winning ways this week, notching two victories while keeping their sheet clean. LDA beat Cartagines 1-0 on Friday, and Lopez scored his club's winner in a 3-0 pounding of Josue Martinez's Saprissa. Martinez was said to have had a torn hamstring, but his club's technical director denied that report. There was no tear in Martinez's tendons, and he will rejoin his teammates. Alajuelense currently sits in second place, just one point out of the pole position, while Saprissa sit a point behind them in third.

Faryd Mondragon has been called up to the Colombia squad for their friendlies against Belgium and the Netherlands over the coming week. David Ospina, Colombia's regular number one 'keeper, is injured, but that doesn't necessarily guarantee Mondy a pair of starts. 24-year-old Camilo Vargas has also been called into camp, and many believe that he should be in goal for Colombia's next two matches.

Freddy Adu was not on the bench for Bahia's scoreless draw with Atletico Mineiro, and this will probably be the case until year-end as Bahia has already announced that they will not renew Adu's contract.

Joe Tait returned for Gateshead this weekend, making a five-minute cameo in a heartbreaking FA Cup draw to Oxford United. Oxford scored two goals in the last fifteen minutes of the match--one in the 90th--to force a replay on the banks of the Tyne.

Kai Herdling was an unused substitute in Hoffenheim's 3-2 loss to Hertha on Saturday.
