- 00:41 - A high kick by Raymon Gaddis to Joao Plata's face puts the young Ecuadorian forward on the ground. Toronto charges forward with the advantage and Reggie Lambe gets a shot on goal that is saved well by Chris Konopka. Lambe gets a second chance on the rebound, but puts it straight across the goal mouth.
- 01:27 - Ryan Johnson finds the ball at his feet after a corner and rips a left footed shot wide right from just outside of the Union six.
- 02:05 - Torsten Frings sends in a long free kick that finds unmarked on the right side of Philadelphia's box. His header barely misses going on target.
- 02:29 - Kai Herdling receives the ball over the top of the 18, hesitates, then shoots. The German's attempt goes barely wide of the left post.
- 02:58 - Michael Farfan tries a 35-yarder and manages to hit the crossbar. It was an audacious effort, but it came close. Herdling got onto the rebound and also put a shot toward the goal, but it went beyond the right post.
- 03:35 - Antoine Hoppenot moves from the left side to the top of the box and feeds Marfan on the right side. The former Rookie of the Year finalist had his shot saved at the near post.
- 04:14 - A ball goes over the top of the Union defense and Frings runs onto it, but Konopka steps up and shuts down the former German international.
- 04:46 - A Union corner in the 83rd minute is cleared out to Brian Carroll, who tries a 25-yard volley that lands slightly wide of the left post.
- 5:06 - Toronto's late run of play turns into a mess in the back for the Union, as a mistake by Sheanon Williams is compounded by a clearance miss by Michael Lahoud. The ball is collected by Toronto and fed to Danny Koevermans. The Dutchman has his first shot saved by Konopka, but the striker is able to put the rebound into the net.
- 06:33 - The referee blows his whistle to end the game and Toronto records its first win of the 2012 MLS season and gains its first points of the year as well.
