The chances of a red card at PPL Park on Saturday dropped drastically after news broke that Eric Hassli did not make the traveling roster of the Vancouver Whitecaps.
Hassli recently suffered an ankle injury that left him questionable leading up to Saturday, but the French striker has now be listed as officially out, according to both 1040 Team Radio and Marc Weber. Without Hassli in the lineup, former Philadelphia Union star striker Sebastien Le Toux will most likely be the focal point of the Whitecaps offense on Saturday.
Last year Hassli was yellow carded twice in Vancouver's loss to the Union and his expulsion from the game helped to allow Philadelphia to press forward and grab the winning goal. Carlos Ruiz, who was later sold to a second division Mexican club, scored a poacher's goal in the 77th minute for the eventual winner.
The 31-year-old hot headed forward will most likely be replaced on the gameday roster by Atiba Harris and John Thorringon, both of whom have had problems with injures, along with Brazilian playmaker Camilo.
