Sheanon Williams has joined the United States Men's National under-23 team (USMNT), replacing Joshua Gatt on the squad's roster.

The Philadelphia Union and US Soccer confirmed the Brotherly Game's report that Williams was called up to join the youth national team in Nashville ahead of the start of Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) Olympic Qualifying.

Williams could potentially miss up to two weeks of MLS action if the USMNT progresses to the CONCACAF finals, which take place on April 2 in LIVESTRONG Sporting Park. If the under-23 team does make it that far, then Williams will miss the Union's March 31 home game against the Vancouver Whitecaps in addition to this Saturday's game versus the Chicago Fire.

USMNT under-23 head coach Caleb Porter was forced to utilize a last minute call up because Gatt's club team, Molde, recalled the midfielder and defender three days ago. Molde has experienced a rash of injuries in recent weeks, leading to the need to have Gatt back in Norway.
