MLS Re-Entry Draft: Three Former, One Current Union Player Available

The Philadelphia Union were forced to place goalkeeper Chase Harrison on the Major League Soccer Re-Entry Draft availability list for a second straight year, due to the process' rules, but he isn't the only player with ties to the team who is available.

Also listed are former captain Danny Califf, former fellow central defender Shavar Thomas and former starting striker Alejandro Moreno.

Califf's salary cost most likely forced him out of Chivas USA, while Thomas has hardly played despite a relatively high salary since leaving the Union in 2010. Moreno has been somewhat inconsistent since also joining Chivas, but even though he's aged, he is still one of the better hold up forwards in MLS.

A first stage selection will require a team to give the player a five percent raise on his 2012 salary. A second stage, next Friday, selection would allow the player and team to negotiate a new contract.
