Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter has referenced the Philadelphia Union multiple times on Twitter, always sending out messages of support for the second year club during what has become a successful season.
Last night, Mayor Nutter announced he'd be at the game and wondered if anyone would care if he visited the River End.
Excited for @PhilaUnion game tonight. Sons of Ben, you mind if I stop in the River End to say hello? #DOOP
The Sons of Ben responded in droves over Twitter, telling Nutter that he was more than welcome to come to the area, which the Mayor would take advantage of early in the match.
Before Sebastien Le Toux scored his first goal of the game, Nutter made his way to the River End and took over the drum in section 136, and proceeded to play it during the goal.
The mayor wore a 2011 Sons of Ben scarf, on top of his suit, during his time with the supporters group.
I know, I know! Long day, didn't have time to change RT @red8814: @phillyluke @Michael_Nutter @PhilaUnion love ya, Mr Mayor, but who the hell wears a suit in the River End?!? #savedbythescarf
