Philadelphia Union starting right back Sheanon Williams will miss tomorrow's game against Sporting Kansas City due to a concussion that the 21-year-old suffered in a 1-0 win over the Columbus Crew.
On the play when Williams may have been concussed, Carlos Valdes received the ball from rookie goalkeeper Zac MacMath, then crossed the ball down the field along the right side. Williams went up for the ball in the Crew's final third and was clattered on his way up in the air. He remained on the ground and eventually went to the sideline for a short period of time before returning and finishing out the game.
Williams' concussion comes less than a week after third string goalkeeper Thorne Holder was concussed for the second time this season. The Union listed midfielder Stefani Miglioranzi as the probable right back tomorrow night. Michael Farfan and Ryan Richter are also possibilities in Williams' absence.
OUT: GK Faryd Mondragon (R ring finger fracture); GK Thorne Holder (concussion); DF Sheanon Williams (concussion); MF Levi Houapeu (L ankle strain); DOUBTBUL: MF Justin Mapp (L quad strain); PROBABLE: FW Veljko Paunovic (L calf strain)
