The Philadelphia Union drew with Ergotelis F.C. of the Superleague Greece on Monday. Newly signed striker Carlos "El Pescadito" Ruiz scored his first goal in a Union uniform in his unofficial debut with the team.
Faryd Mondragon started the game in goal and played the entire first half, which ended 1-0. Rookie goalkeeper Zac MacMath came in for the second half.
After Ruiz's goal in the 27th minute, Ergotelis equalized in the 88th minute off a penalty kick taken by Nikos Karelis. The spot kick was awarded after a foul in the penalty area by Stefani Miglioranzi, who was issued a red card. This was the second red card of the preseason for the Union, after Carlos Valdes also saw red in the team's 1-0 loss to Orlando City. More info after the jump.
As per usual for the Union, lineups were not announced for either team. Several players are known to have played, however, based on the club's official recap. Mondragon, MacMath, Ruiz, Miglioranzi, Justin Mapp, Kyle Nakazawa, Zach Pfeffer, Roger Torres, Jack McInerney, and Ryan Richter all participated for Philadelphia.
[UPDATE: The guys over at Union ASN got their hands on the lineups for the Union from both halves, courtesy of Ergotelis's website. They also got a photo of some of the players involved, presumably from the second half. The lineups are not in any kind of formational order.
