Reports naming current Philadelphia Union trial goalkeeper Thorne as the newest Union player are premature, Holder's college soccer coach at Adelphia University told BrotherlyGame.com.
Carlo Acquista, who coached Holder for three years at Adelphia, said that any news concerning Holder signing a MLS contract with the Union today is false. Big Apple Soccer put out a story earlier today that the Trinidad and Tobago former under-17 and under-20 international had signed a professional contract with the Union. Building upon that news was a tweet, found by Philly Soccer Page, by former T&T national team hero Shaka Hislop that confirmed that the young goalkeeper was now a member of the Union.
Holder has spent the past three weeks training with the Union while on trial with the team. The 6'4" 23-year-old went undrafted in both the 2011 MLS SuperDraft and Supplement Draft, after having a slightly off year compared to his junior season at Adelphia.
