No, not the Philadelphia Phillies catcher.
Almost a year ago, the Philadelphia Union were finalizing a deal with recently waived defender Cristian Arrieta. At the same time the first year club was linked with Guatemalan striker Carlos Ruiz.
Now the Union find themselves once again rumored to bring in the 31-year-old former MLS MVP (2002). El Pescadito ("The Little Fish") , as he is known due to his propensity to 'dive like a little fish', is currently out of contract after leaving Greek club Aris Salonika. His deal with the team was supposed to run through 2012 but the sides mutually ended their time together.
Guatemala's Prensa Libre is reporting that Ruiz is soon to be announced as the next Union player:
After seven months of a relationship with Aris Thessaloniki, a team in the Greece Super League, Carlos Ruiz reached an agreement to rescind the contract that bound him for two years. However, in the next few hours he is expected to be presented at his new club, the Philadelphia Union of the MLS.
During his time in MLS, Ruiz scored 90 goals in 164 games for the Los Angeles Galaxy, FC Dallas and Toronto FC.
