Over what was probably differing opinions on salary, the Philadelphia Union declined to take trial player Jeremiah White with the team for its Florida preseason tour.
White, a former US internationa, came into Philadelphia after he and his former team chose to end his contract. Philadelphia Daily News beat reporter Kerith Gabriel found out more about White's contract situation:
White was most recently under contract with Polish first-division club GKS Belchatow. However, according to the team's website, White and the club agreed to an early termination of the contract. White, who appeared in only three matches in all competitions, told a reporter of his desire not to return to Poland.
The midfielder looked set to replace former midfielder Shea Salinas, who was lost to the Vancouver Whitecaps in the 2010 MLS Expansion Draft. Now it appears that third round draft pick (2011 MLS SuperDraft) Levi Houapeu may replace the role of a speed substitute off of the bench late in MLS games.
