Colombian news outlet Futbol Red reported that Deportivo Cali has also declared their interest in acquiring Carlos Valdes.
Another suitor for Carlos Valdes has emerged after Colombian media once again kept the world abreast of changes in the defender's possible transfer away from the Philadelphia Union.
"I need a defense of hierarchy that gives weight to the rear," said the coach [of Deportivo Cali] at the end of Tuesday's practice. His needs have been clear since his arrival in the team: defense, midfield and forward. For Leonel, the Philadelphia Union defender has all the characteristics.
The sports site said that Cali was intent on acquiring Valdes after learning that neither Santa Fe or Nacional (of Uruguay) had yet to capture his signature. Valdes commented on the inquiry of Cali, stating that he was flattered by their interest.
"I really do not know if anything is concrete and it is not up to me, the issue is being developed by my agent and we have this week to define my future, but I am proud that such an important team is interested in my services," said Carlos Valdes.
Other reports out of Colombia and Uruguay have said that a loan of Valdes would entail a year of play in South America, with a purchase option included in the deal.
