The Philadelphia Union's CJ Sapong and Keegan Rosenberry were named to the MLS Week 3 Team of the Week yesterday. Sapong had two goals on three shots and two chances created. Rosenberry's stats were equally as impressive, with four interceptions, three clearances, and two tackles in the 3-0 win over the New England Revolution.
Bobby Shuttleworth of the Revs also was named to the Team of the Week. His five saves - including two penalty kick saves - kept the scoreline from being totally embarrassing for New England.
Other MLS Team of the Week winners were FC Dallas's Ryan Hollingshead and Mauro Diaz, Vancouver Whitecaps' Kendall Waston, Orlando City's Cristian Higuita, New York Red Bulls' Felipe Martins, Gyasi Zardes of the LA Galaxy, Fanendo Adi of the Portland Timbers, and Will Bruin of the Houston Dynamo. Orlando's Joe Bendik, New York City FC's Ronald Matarrita, Real Salt Lake's Chris Wingert, Marco Pappa of the Colorado Rapids, Boniek Garcia of the Houston Dynamo, NYRB's Sacha Kljestan, and Portland's Diego Valeri filled out the bench.
In other "Team of the Week" news, the Union's Sapong and Fabinho were named to whoscored.com's Major League Soccer Best XI. Shuttleworth, Matarrita, Kljestan, Higuita, Felipe, and Pappa were named to the Best XI as well as Montreal Impact's Laurent Ciman, Orlando's Rafael Ramos, and FCD's Maximiliano Urruti. These players are the highest rated players at their position on the week as judged by whoscored.com. Sapong was the highest-rated player overall at a 9.6 out of 10, while Fabinho came in second at 9.3 out of 10.
