Bethlehem Steel FC continue the trend of bringing a young, enthusiastic feel to soccer in the Lehigh Valley as Dave Leno and Matt Kassel were brought on today as the official voices of BSFC home games.
Leno has a good amount of experience behind the microphone as the former ESPN, ONE World Sports and Big Ten network personality will look to bring a wide variety and enthusiasm for the game to Bethlehem. While studying at Indiana University-Bloomington, Leno broke into the on-air side of things covering field hockey and soccer for the BTN at the age of 21. Prior to joining Steel FC, Dave spent the last four years doing college basketball for the World Wide Leader, ESPN.
Matt Kassel might be a familiar name for USL purists or some keen eyed Philadelphia Union fans. The 26 year old will hang up his cleats after a four year career with the New York Red Bulls before he appeared with the Union in 2013. The former NYRB homegrown player finished up his on field career with Arizona United SC two years ago, where he served as the captain of that club. Trading in his cleats for a headset will surely be an exciting transition for Kassel and a color commentator with a fair amount of experience at the USL level should help explain the intricacies of the league to a wide audience.
No word on where you can go to watch all 15 of Bethlehem's home games this year other than Goodman Stadium at Lehigh University, however we will be sure to keep an eye out as to how you can watch, and listen when we find out concrete information.
