While it has been reported that the Union are looking to add a player from Europe during the Summer transfer window, I think we can all agree that this team could use some help now. It would be nice if they could add a player within MLS via a trade during the WC break to allow them some time to integrate with the team.
This is all purely speculation on my part, but I figured this would help to get us off the ledge and think about trade targets within the league.
So here's a list of players that I think the Union could go after that would make an impact on our team. I also think they could be had at a reasonable price. I'm only focusing on attacking players since I do believe the backline will improve if Hackworth ever decides to put out a consistent back four.
(Guaranteed compensation in parenthesis)
Saer Sene (163k) - This would be my top target. A bit of a risk since tearing his ACL, but if he has the talent to become a top scorer in MLS. He's surplus goods at the moment so he could be had for a good price. Can play either up top or on the right. He's worth taking a chance on in my opinion.
Kenny Cooper (265k) - I never thought I'd say this, but the emergence of Chad Barrett in Seattle may make Cooper expendable. He wouldn't be a good fit if Hackworth is insistent upon keeping the 4-3-3, but there's no doubt that Cooper would bring goals to the Union.
Kalif Alhassan (120k) - I think Kalif would be a good addition to the Union. He's quick and good on the ball. He would be a nice option to have on the right side since he offers a much different style than the direct play from Cruz & LeToux. He's not going to provide much in terms of goals, but he could open up defenses and give other guys opportunities inside the 18.
Dom Oduro (251k) - He has the speed necessary to play on the right side of a 4-3-3, and is worth looking into even if he has finishing issues. (Traded to Toronto FC)
CJ Sapong(112k)/Claudio Bieler (225k) - It might take a lot to get Sapong, but he'd be a good fit in Philly. A change of scenery would do him well. I think Bieler is a more likely target, as he doesn't seem to be a favorite of Vermes. He's another forward that I'm not sure would fit in the 4-3-3 so a change in formation would be necessary. I could see a Bieler/Wenger partnership being successful.
Sanna Nyasi (154k) - I just threw this one out there since he hasn't gotten much playing time with Montreal this year. I wouldn't expect him to be a game-changer, but he could be a nice speed option off the bench.
Please feel free to add your own. A little bit of speculation can help remedy the woes of this terrible season.
