WPSL Elite League Squad Philadelphia Fever Sign Four New Players

The Philadelphia Fever, one the Women's Premier Soccer League Elite League's newest teams, have signed four new players in Megan Minix, Laura Di Clemente, Kelsey Haycook and Cherie Sayon. These four signings come off the heals of the Fever's first two signings back in mid March; Defender Leanne Champ and midfielder Brittany Baldwin. "I am delighted to welcome all the players to our team," head coach Stuart Gore told the official WPSL website. Gore, a former player who has experience playing in the UK, Spain and Asia, was announced as the team's head coach on February 11th.

Named the 2010 A-10 Student Player of the Year, defender Megan Minix is a UNC graduate and A-10 all conference player.

Philadelphia native Laura Di Clemente, a current Providence College forward, is in her final year as a Friar. Clemente is coming off her best year after having knee surgery in 2009 with a team leading nine goals and three assists. Clemente will be one of the interesting players to follow in the Elite League's inaugural season as she has worked with coach Gore previously.

Haycook, a Point Pleasant, New Jersey native, is a freshman forward playing for La Salle University in Philadelphia. Don't let the freshman tag fool you; Kelsey Haycook had a tremendous year for La Salle, scoring 16 goals in just 20 games while also notching four assists.

Currently a Senior at Clayton State University , Cherie Sayon will bring some serious fire power to the Fever. In just two years, the Monrovia, Liberia international has scored 27 goals in only 32 appearances.

With six players and a coach, the Philadelphia Fever is slowly starting to take shape. One of eight teams, the Fever will help kick off the WPSL Elite League's inaugural 2012 season. “I am delighted with these signings and I am confident that all of them will have a great impact this season for the Fever,” coach Gore says about his latest talent signings.
