Philadelphia Union vs. Columbus Crew - Gamethread - Match #28
Facing a 8-game winless streak and the absence of their veteran leader and goalkeeper Faryd Mondragon, the Philadelphia Union (8-7-12) will play host tonight to the first place side in the Eastern Conference, Columbus Crew (11-9-8). Kickoff at PPL Park is scheduled for 7:36:30 PM ET.
If you have not already, be sure to check out the following preview from The Brotherly Game staff: [Ben's Match Preview] [Scott's Preview For SB Nation Philly] [Saturday Afternoon Union Freekicks].
Broadcast Information: The Comcast Network (JP Dellacamera, Taylor Twellman, Bob Rigby), coverage beginning at 7:00 PM Eastern with a pre-game show / ONN (Dwight Burgess, Duncan Oughton), News Talk 610 WTVN-AM (Neil Sika) and La Mega 103.1 WVKO-FM (Carlos Cordova, Benny Pietrangelo) in Columbus / MLS Direct Kick, MatchDay Live (The Comcast Network feed)
Philadelphia Union Starting XI: MacMath; G. Farfan, Valdes, Califf, Williams; Carroll, Adu, Torres, Pfeffer; Le Toux, M. Farfan
Philadelphia Union Bench: Holder, Mwanga, McInerney, Nakazawa, Langley, Okugo, Miglioranzi
Columbus Crew Starting XI: Hesmer; Miranda, Gehrig, James, Francis; O'Rourke, Rusmir, Rogers, Duka; Mendoza, Heinemann
With a win, and a Sporting Kansas City loss, the Philadelphia Union could potentially pull back in the race for first place in the Eastern Conference. Of course, one the flip side, if the Union lose and Houston Dynamo win, that would spell complete disaster for the Union. Our staff will give live comments and reactions throughout the game, as well. Go Union! DOOP!

If we don't get three points from this then I don't what I'll do with myself
We need to stay in the playoff picture.
The teams should be releasing their starting lineups and benches in the next few minutes.

Hopefully
there is a little hangover for Columbus from that draw Wednesday. They didn’t look very good to begin with and were handily outplayed by Houston. They only earned any goals because of dumb penalties by Houston in their box. So if we avoid the penalties and play more of a passing game they will break down and we can earn three points. If my aunt……you know the rest.

wow
I actually kinda like this line up. Doesn’t look like a ball control offense though, but it looks prime for run onto the ball passes (a Torres and Marfan specialty IMO). That could really benefit the hustle of Le Toux. I don’t know enough about Pfeffer, so lets see what the youngster has for us. I’m pretty excited.

I do too. You had to figure that with as often as Nowak seems to come up with starting lineups through a card shuffler, one of these times he’d end up with one that doesn’t give fans a panic attack an hour before the match starts.

Arguably against the run of play, too. (Sorry for the lack of updates on my part; doing our Twitter tonight as well.)

Starting. Looked incredibly comfortable. Had a pretty decent chance setup by Le Toux, too.

I would take his answer as a no.
As a writer for a site on a network that from my understandings frown upon giving out pirated feeds, I am not going to link anything. But if you are at all familiar with the internet, there are several sites out there that stream MLS soccer games.

I’m home so I get to actually watch it on the TV. Ahh the joys of not being at Geneva! lol
