PrintOne of the top side's in Spain's La Liga and perennial UEFA Champions League contender Real Madrid is coming to Philadelphia for a much anticipated international club friendly against the Philadelphia Union. For Real Madrid, this is a pre-season friendly and a trip similar to the Philadelphia Union's trip to Greece earlier in the season. For the Philadelphia Union, this is a mid-season friendly whose purpose I have yet to truly figure out. Kickoff at Lincoln Financial Field is scheduled for 9:00 PM ET.

Going to watch Espn3 through Xbox Live… Not too difficult but this should have been picked up by some other station.
MLS/SUM (Soccer United Marketing) sold exclusive broadcast rights for these matches to ESPN, and unfortunately, ESPN has live commitments on both ESPN and ESPN2 all night. So CSN, 6abc, Fox Soccer, or whomever wouldn’t be allowed to pick up this match even if they wanted to.

Yeah. Even though 6abc is an O&O, it was the ESPN Networks who were given exclusivity. And since Disney’s media assets are (appropriately) compartmentalized, they wouldn’t be able to legitimately claim that 6abc falls under as an ESPN channel.

Yup, exactly. It sucks, but it is what it is and at least there’s a way to watch it without requiring that you pay for Comcast’s Spanish package for a month to watch a two hour broadcast.

I guess since it is the WFC they have an exclusive contract with ESPN to broadcast. They have precommitments on ESPN and ESPN 2 so it is relegated to ESPN Deportes and and ESPN3. At least it is broadcasted somewhere.
