Philadelphia Union vs. Los Angeles Galaxy - Gamethread - Match #8
After last Friday's disappointing road loss, the Philadelphia Union (4-2-1) will look to avenge another disappointing loss they suffered earlier in the season when they host the Los Angeles Galaxy (4-2-4). Considering the officiating the last time these two teams met, if the official in this match displays that he has the same understanding of soccer as most 8-year olds, it will be worthy of a celebration the size of the Royal Wedding

I’ll say that I really dislike Landon Donovan when he is not playing for the USMNT. Ironically, he reminds me of Sidney Crosby in a lot of ways.

I’m not even the biggest fan of his when he is on the USMNT.

Yes, that back and forth with NY’s Rodgers was hilarious.

Mwanga, Torres and M. Farfan all warming up. Good thing because they need something on offense.

The last few minutes have certainly been better, though.

Yes, we are finally possessing the ball in the LA half a little bit.

PPL Park is dead quiet. Kind of strange to see the place almost entirely full, but to hear such little crowd noise.

Another new PPL Park attendance record at 19,178. Previous record was just over 19,000 from the Red Bulls match.

Well, in the sense that it may cost you a second goal, but if you weren’t going to score one in the first place, it doesn’t really matter, does it?

Start Torres for Nakazawa and Mwanga for Ruiz from now on
And I think we can be a great team.

Seriously. Without fail, Torres comes in and makes things happen. The link up between him and Mwanga is awesome.

Great? Maybe not. But better, for sure. I’m still a bit skeptical of Torres, even though I think he’s a better option in the midfield than the likes of Nakazawa or Mapp at this point.
Also, I wouldn’t mind seeing Michael Farfan in for Harvey. If we are going to depend on our backs for wing play, I think Farfan looks like a better option than Harvey.
I think we’re a good, if not very good team right now. Extremely solid defensively, good leadership, good (enough) coaching. What are we missing? Creativity in our attack. Torres provides that. Mwanga has looked better (stronger, faster, in better positions, etc.) than Ruiz. I think these 2 changes can make all the difference for us.

Just got back from the game
The crowd was rocking in the first half, but had no life in the second until Torres came on. Not surprising considering how poor the first half was. I’m not sure who played worse tonight: Ruiz, Le Toux, Mapp, or Nakazawa. As usual, all 4 played poorly. I don’t think any of them have played more than 1 good game this season (in my opinion). I’d like to see a 1-5-4 with Mwanga up top (he’s by far the biggest and strongest guy we have, and he does well holding the ball usually), Okugo, Carroll, Daniel, and the Farfans in the middle, and the usual back 4. I think Torres is better as a sub.
Also, I get a feeling we’ll be seeing MacMath on Saturday. Mondragon would’ve been out of there in an even game. He couldn’t kick or jump.
Once the goal was scored the SOB died. It was such a crappy goal that it took the life out of everyone. Late in the second half things did pick up though. This offense needs Mwanga and Torres, and really wouldn’t hurt to lose Ruiz. He’s hurting us more than hes giving us chances.
Anywho, after the game I met Keon Daniel and got a photo with him. He was at the concourse coming out of the supporters section. Had to double take at the hair to realize it was him. Pretty freaking sweet. Facebook picture!!!!. loll
