A Stat Nerd's View Of The Union

[Editor's Note: Great work on this fanpost. Enjoy folks.]

With three shutout wins and two goals allowed through the first five games, Faryd Mondragon is at the top of nearly every positive goalkeeping stat list.  After a season plagued with cautions and ejections, the Philadelphia Union have seen just thirteen yellow cards (Carlos Ruiz, Amobi Okugo, Danny Califf, and Danny Mwanga are the only players with more than one) and one ejection (Jack McInerney).  We're finally starting to get a few Major League Soccer tidbits out of Opta's US-based Twitter account, but if you're like me, you're thirsty for more than one Union fact every month.

Hit the jump for some Union-related stats that seem to stand out...

Think the U can maintain their position at the top of the Eastern Conference while creating so few scoring opportunities?  Surprised to see Williams leading in both foul-related categories?  Looking for stats on how many times assistant / goalkeeper coach Rob Vartughian stands up to make a funny face at the opposing bench during the game?  Got an excuse for the Revs' lack of attendance?  Let's hear it!
