A Look At Soccer Stadiums, And The Teams That Play In Them, In 2011

Battling eurosnobbery & Jim Rome types on a regular basis, I love nothing more than to see the MLS footprint take hold with new stadiums - even if Dallas fans choose to dress up as empty seats when they visit PHP...

The following teams will play in a soccer-specific stadium by the end of 2011:

Los Angeles Galaxy, Chivas USA, Real Salt Lake, Colorado Rapids, Vancouver Whitecaps, Portland Timbers, FC Dallas, Columbus Crew, Toronto FC, Chicago Fire, New York Red Bulls,  Philadelphia Union and Sporting Kansas City.

The following teams have plans in the works for a soccer stadium:

Houston Dynamo (breaking ground Saturday), San Jose Earthquakes (kinda)

The following team plays in a football stadium because its the best place to sell a lot of tickets:

Seattle Sounders

The following team plays in a football stadium out of convenience because it's owner is in charge of it:

New England Revolution

The following team is paying rent to play in a crumbling football stadium because they have no where else to go despite the fact they've won more games and trophies than anyone else in their city over the last 20 years:
