The Philly Soccer Page " Match report: Seattle 0-2 Union
After watching their team win the US Open Cup on Tuesday, Sounders fans were not prepared to see the Union waltz into Seattle and take a deserved three points off a lethargic home side.
JUST A WEEK after looking like it might fall out of the playoff race, the Union is back in first place in MLS' Eastern Conference following Saturday night's 2-0 victory in Seattle.
With their eyes set on reaching new heights in their second year, the Union sought out and acquired creative midfielder Freddy Adu, with hopes that the 22-year-old would provide the key variable in what could be a potent playoff run.
What a difference 18 months make.
Just over 18 months after the Union opened play in Major League Soccer with a 2-0 loss in Seattle, they returned to reverse the result and earn one of the biggest victories in club history.
Saturday night in Seattle, Nowak's Philadelphia Union earned their first-ever win on the West Coast, beating the Sounders 2-0 at CenturyLink Field. And, in the process, they inched closer to their first-ever playoff berth.
