With the season about to come to an end, there is almost nothing to look forward to in the coming months except for one pretty important event in the MLS....the expansion draft. With two new clubs coming in this season, many players across the league will be switching teams. If the rules are the same as last year, I believe that each team is allowed to save eleven players from the draft. Additionally generation adidas players are automatically saved (good news for Mwanga, Okugo and McInerney) and you must leave at least three international players vulnerable. Which brings us to the Union. Which eleven would you save?
Here is my list:
Defenders: Jordan Harvey, Juan Diego Gonzalez, Sheanon Williams, Michael Orozco Fiscal
Midfielders: Sebastian Le Toux, Shea Salinas, Andrew Jacobson, Kyle Nakazawa, Roger Torres, Justin Mapp, Fred
No goalkeepers or forwards
This is obviously a very young core of players, thus leaving some important veterans such as Moreno, Coudet, Callif, and Miglioranzi vulnerable. I don't think we need to protect any keepers, quite frankly who would really want them? I think it is a better strategy to save your young players because the expansion teams will most likely looking for players that they can build around and not older players such as Coudet that they might only have for a season. What do you think? Who would you protect and who do you think might be selected from the Union?
